School is back for another year and so are the traffic woes along the Mount Lindesay Highway in front of Beaudesert State High School.
State Member for Scenic Rim, Jon Krause, has started the new school year by again raising concerns that the State Labor Government isn’t doing anything to address traffic congestion at Beaudesert State High School.
“If you have driven in the school zone in front of Beauy High, then you would know what a bottleneck it is. What I’m proposing is simple – widen the exit so it can take a line of traffic turning left, and a line turning right – easing the build-up of cars inside the campus.”
“I am listening to the concerns of parents, teachers and the community about safety and traffic congestion and have raised this countless times with the Minister for Transport and Main Roads, the Minister for Education, and the Main Roads District Director, asking them to take the matter of overcrowding at Beaudesert State High School seriously,” Mr Krause said.
“Unfortunately, Main Roads has only made the matter worse by approving the new service station development in front of the school that will only add to congestion.”
“I have also asked numerous times for the Government to buy nearby vacant land, for use as parking and additional classrooms.”
“Labor is out of touch with reality on the ground here – it’s not that hard to address this issue, it just requires a bit of commonsense and some effort. That is all too much it seems. There were plans floating around last year to do work on this issue – but nothing has happened, and here we are again, facing another year of frustration and traffic build-up around the high school.”
Mr Krause said that he will continue to work with the school community for improvements to safety and traffic congestion.
“I will continue to fight to bring our fair share of infrastructure to Beaudesert and the Scenic Rim community,” Mr Krause said.
