State Member for Scenic Rim, Jon Krause, has welcomed improvement works scheduled at the intersection of Lake Moogerah Road on the Cunningham Highway – with pavement rehabilitation works expected to start before June.
“This is a good start, but more needs to be done on the Cunningham Highway to improve safety for all road users,” Mr Krause said.
The news of the work at Lake Moogerah Road came after Mr Krause made representations on behalf of concerned residents to the Transport and Main Roads (TMR) District Director.
“Residents have contacted me with concerns about the dangerous condition of the Cunningham Highway south of Aratula from the BP Petrol Station to the first overtaking lane heading towards Cunninghams Gap.”
Mr Krause was advised that TMR is preparing a business case to secure funding for surface improvements works at this location south of Aratula, with no completion date in sight.
Another project is expected to be completed in the 2020-21 financial year at Tarome, about two-kilometres prior to the helipad, to rehabilitate the pavement over a one-kilometre stretch.
“These scheduled improvement works are a step in the right direction, but I encourage all residents to continue contacting me with your concerns so that I can lobby on your behalf and get the State Labor Government to deliver the funding and infrastructure the Scenic Rim Electorate needs,” Mr Krause said.
