State Member for Scenic Rim, Jon Krause, and the LNP are serious about protecting hard-working farming families from radical animal extremists.
“Labor’s soft-on-crime approach to protecting farming families and other lawful businesses from extremists has failed to address the rising tide of criminal activity.”
“It is simply unacceptable that extremists are invading farms, where families live and work, without any real consequence.”
“That’s why the LNP introduced three tough new trespass laws* into Parliament last week to ensure our state has the most comprehensive trespass laws in the country.”
Mr Krause said that the laws are designed to protect all Queenslanders and their businesses.
“Our laws not only deal with those that do the terrorising, they go after the organisations and ringleaders – an important component to stamping out this activity, which has failed to be addressed by Labor.”
“The LNP want to make it very clear – it’s ok to protest and have different opinions, but if you choose to trespass and terrorise hard-working farmers, you can expect to face the consequences.”
“It’s that simple – we want to protect Queenslanders from unlawful extremists who do not represent the values of our great state.”
Mr Krause said that the silence from Labor on the issue had been concerning and the LNP stands ready to work with the government to protect Queensland farmers.
“It’s time for the Palaszczuk Labor Government to get on-board and support our tough new trespass laws,” Mr Krause said.
*LNP’s trespass laws:
• Aggravated trespass with a maximum penalty of $13,055 fine or 3 years imprisonment;
• Serious Criminal Trespass with a maximum penalty $391,650 or 10 years imprisonment; and
• Organised Trespass which has a maximum penalty of $391,650 or 10 years imprisonment.
