Member for Scenic Rim, Jon Krause, has commended Scenic Rim Regional Council for progressing plans for a new sporting precinct and a Police Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) at Dick Westerman Park in Beaudesert.
“It is heartening to see that Council has put together a plan for this park that includes both the long sought after PCYC facility, together with Council’s indoor multi-sport facility,” he said.
“Our community has fought for a PCYC for so long, and I’m sure these plans of Council will be welcomed by all who have advocated so long, as I have, for a PCYC.”
“There have been a lot of stops and starts in this journey and I realise there are still some hurdles to clear.”
“The LNP Government provided $4.8 million in this year’s Budget towards the Beaudesert multi-sport facility. A sum of $5 million in Government funding has already been allocated by the State for a Beaudesert PCYC, but further funding is required to ensure its construction.”
“In the meantime, it is important that Council is supporting community efforts towards a PCYC through this proposed plan for Dick Westerman Park – so that when funding does become available, there is a location, ready to go, for a Beaudesert PCYC.”
“I really encourage everyone in the community to lend their support to these plans, to take up Council’s invitation to comment on this latest development and to demonstrate their unwavering support for a PCYC.”
