Krause Calls for Repairs on Lamington National Park Road

Member for Scenic Rim Jon Krause recently met with a concerned local resident to discuss the condition of Lamington National Park Road, in particular the extremely narrow sections of road that cause concern for tourist buses and vehicles using the road to travel to iconic destinations in the area.

“Tourism is the key driver for the local economy in Canungra, Beechmont and Green Mountains and the road that connects these places, Lamington National Park Road, needs to be in better condition.”

Mr Krause said that residents are concerned about the extremely narrow section of road in some sections where travelling two abreast is virtually impossible when buses are also using the road.

“The road to O’Reilly’s is challenging enough with many winding and narrow turns which require constant attention and precaution, besides encountering lower standards of road.

“There has been a lot of work done to Lamington National Park Road after my lobbying – from the improvement of road shoulders and road surface between Curtis Road and Double Crossing, to the lobbying to get the road open and repaired after Cyclone Debbie in 2017.

“I am again calling on the Queensland Labor Government to widen Lamington National Park Road to increase road safety for tourists and residents alike.”

Mr Krause said that he is fighting for road improvements all across the Scenic Rim electorate and encouraged residents to contact his office on 07 5515 1100 or scenicrim@parliament.qld.gov.au if there are any other roads that are of concern.
