BEAUDESERT-NERANG ROAD SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS AT WONGLEPONG

The Department of Transport and Main Roads is improving safety by reshaping and sealing the unsealed gravel section of Beaudesert-Nerang Road between Mundoolun Connection Road in Wonglepong and Biddaddaba Road in Biddaddaba.

The $5.2 million project, which is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments as part of the Australian Government Road Safety Program, began in mid-April and will take around six months to complete.

The project will improve sight visibility for motorists with modifications to the crest at the top of the hill, tree clearing, pavement widening, bitumen sealing and formal line marking,

The unsealed gravel section of Beaudesert-Nerang Road Will be closed for the duration of the project, and motorists are required to detour around the roadworks.

Access for residents in the roadwork zone will be maintained at all times.

Member for Scenic Rim, Jon Krause, said the people of Wonglepong and Biddaddaba had been waiting more than 35 years for the upgrade.

“I am absolutely delighted to see that works have finally begun, and I am proud to see them being delivered under the LNP Government,” he said.
