NEW INITIATIVES TO TACKLE BULLYING IN OUR SCHOOLS

The LNP Government has committed $33 million to fund five new anti-bullying initiatives to prevent, respond to, and reduce bullying in our schools.

They will include the establishment of rapid support squads to strategically target bullying hotspots.

The four other initiatives include an anti-bullying reference group to provide critical advice about anti-bullying measures, funding of additional chaplains and wellbeing staff, opening a dedicated crisis support hotline and providing new and updated professional development resources to enhance teacher skills.

This fresh approach will help reverse a decade of failings under the former Labor  Government  which allowed bullying and behavioural issues to spike and classroom assaults to rocket.

Regarding bullying, I believe our children should be able to feel comfortable and safe at school, in the classroom and in the playground. That is what makes school the best experience it can be, for everybody.  Where behaviour of some children at school prevents this occurring, it must be dealt with at school.
