Queensland police have urged motorists to drive safely over the Easter holiday break and have warned that they will be out in force to catch those breaking the law.
They will conduct increased high visibility operations, targeting the Fatal Five preventable areas that cause most accidents – speeding, drink-driving, fatigue, seatbelts, and distraction.
Minister for Police and Emergency Services, Dan Purdie, said drivers could expect to see more random breath and drug testing to catch those unfit to be behind the wheel due to alcohol and drug abuse.
Member for Scenic Rim, Jon Krause, has thrown his weight behind the Easter traffic blitz.
“Easter is one of the busiest and highest risk times on our roads and as a community we must all do whatever we can to keep ourselves, our passengers, and other motorists safe,” he said.
