The State Government has taken the first step in allowing teachers to spend more time
in the classroom helping students and less time on bureaucratic red tape.
Its Teacher Red Tape Reduction Working Group held its first meeting on 9 December to
map out a plan to reduce the unnecessary administrative burden placed on
Queensland teachers.
The Working Group consists of school principals, unions, heads of principal
associations, school business managers’ representatives and parent representatives.
Member for Scenic Rim, Jon Krause, said the Government would also consult with
teachers from around the state throughout term one in 2025.
“Our aim as a government is to reduce the red tape and administrative burden on
teachers by 25 per cent.
“Every minute a teacher spends filling out forms and attending repetitive meetings is a
minute they are not teaching.”
