Grants of up to $25,000 are available for a broad range of grassroots projects initiated and delivered by local community groups and not-for-profit organisations.
They are available through the Foundation for Rural Regional Renewal (FRRR), the only national foundation specifically focussed on ensuring the social and economic strength of remote, rural and regional communities.
There are a number of grant programs currently open, including the Strengthening Rural Community (SRC) program that gives small remote, rural and regional communities across Australia the opportunity to access funds for a broad range of initiatives that directly and clearly benefit local communities. There are two streams of funding available, the Small &Vital (S&V) stream up to $10,000, and the Prepare & Recover (P&R) stream up to $25,000.
The S&V stream supports a broad range of grassroots, community-led initiatives that directly and clearly benefit local communities that strengthen local people, places and climate solutions, with a preference for smaller communities (populations under 15,000).
The P&R stream supports communities to implement initiatives that prevent and prepare for future climate-related impacts or recover from existing disasters in the medium to long-term timeframe, generally one to 10 years after the disaster.
Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and assessed quarterly. The next assessment dates are: Applications close on 5 December 2024; grants will be announced in mid-March 2025.
