One road in the Scenic Rim electorate that has been a source of ongoing community concern for many years now is Tamborine Mountain Road, particularly the winding section through the rainforest between the Geissmann Drive/Eagle Heights Road intersection and Songbirds.
The Department of Transport and Main Toads (TMR) has advised that work is expected to begin at seven sites on a 2km section in August to repair pavement damage that occurred between February and May due to heavy rainfall.
Slope stabilisation works are also expected to be undertaken in this section. One serious issue regarding this section of road that remains to be addressed by TMR is providing a safe solution at the several dangerous spots which have near vertical drops, but absolutely no guardrail protection – a situation made worse by the lack of any meaningful warning signage
