Department Acts on Safety Signage

I commend the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) for its prompt response to my recent correspondence in which I highlighted safety concerns and requested signage to warn motorists about the curve near Bands Road, between Peak Crossing and Yamanto.

The department has advised that it was aware of the two recent crashes on Ipswich-Boonah Road, adjacent to the Bands Road intersection, and has been working closely with Queensland Police Service to investigate these incidents.

It has conducted multiple on-site inspections, including evening site visits, to review the existing signage and identify options for safety improvements at this location.

As a result, TMR will upgrade the line delineation and upgrade signage to increase motorists’ awareness of the series of curves located along Ipswich-Boonah Road, between Bands Road and the curve to the south of Castle Hill Lane, approaching Peak Crossing.

These works are expected to take place via a series of upgrades, with completion expected by mid-September 2024, weather and resources permitting.
