State Member for Scenic Rim, Jon Krause, is calling on the Queensland Government to utilise $4.2 million in funding for Beaudesert-Nerang Road to fix glaring safety issues for all users of the road.
Mr Krause has been contacted by countless constituents concerned about the poor and dangerous condition of the Beaudesert-Nerang Road at Tabragalba, Biddaddaba and Wonglepong – with these sections having corrugations and large potholes.
“This road at Wonglepong, at the intersection of Biddaddaba Road, with its low culvert and gravel road, must be one of the worst State roads in Queensland.”
“It is utilised by locals, tourists towing caravans, and a large number of livestock vehicles. Locals have been lobbying for it to be fixed since 1989.”
“The state of the road just outside Beaudesert, from Tabragalba Road to the intersection of Beaudesert-Nerang Road, is all absolutely atrocious for a major connection road and should be repaired ASAP – before there is a serious accident.”
Mr Krause said he was made aware that $4.2 million will be allocated to improving the safety of Beaudesert-Nerang Road, but no details or plans have been released to outline where the money will be going.
“I have asked TMR to let the community know where this funding will be spent.”
Mr Krause said he hoped the improvements for Beaudesert-Nerang Road will go ahead, as it was not the first time that funding was allocated for work, only to have it subsequently stripped away by the Labor Government.
