For State Member Jon Krause, Beaudesert Racing Club’s Derby Day on 4 November provided a perfect opportunity to catch up with locals, including jockeys, trainers, stewards and other racing industry participants.
“The racing and thoroughbred industry contributes a lot to the Beaudesert district, not only through racing directly but through training, spelling, breeding and all of the primary producers who supply these sectors,” Mr Krause said.
“It was terrific to hear about future plans for expansion of the stabling and training facilities at the club, which in itself will bring more economic activity to the region.”
Mr Krause said there was also an important community benefit from feature race days like Derby Day.
“I know a number of community organisations, including the local Rotary Club of Scenic Rim Sunrise, take part in days like this and raise funds for projects and grants in the community. I thank them for their work.”
