New station opened for Biddaddaba Rural Fire Brigade

The Crisafulli Government is making Queensland safer with the official opening of a new station for the Biddaddaba Rural Fire Brigade.

The new station strengthens frontline emergency services and gives local volunteers the facilities they need, delivered on time and on budget as part of the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to safer, stronger Queensland communities.

The purpose-built facility will provide local volunteers with a modern operational base to support emergency response, training and bushfire mitigation activities across the Scenic Rim.

A decade of Labor neglect saw volunteer firefighting numbers drop by more than 7,000 and they left frontline emergency services without the infrastructure they needed.

The Crisafulli Government is fixing the mess and giving our volunteer firefighters the modern facilities they deserve and need to keep Queenslanders safe.

The new station includes three appliance bays, a dedicated training room, office space, personal amenities and storage for firefighting equipment and protective clothing.

The investment will strengthen local emergency response capability while ensuring volunteers have a safe and functional facility from which to prepare for and respond to emergencies.

Minister for Fire, Disaster Recovery and Volunteers Ann Leahy said the new station reflected the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to supporting volunteer firefighters across Queensland.

“Our Rural Fire Service volunteers dedicate countless hours to protecting their communities, and they deserve modern facilities that support the vital work they do,” Minister Leahy said.

“Our government is making Queensland safer by investing in the frontline infrastructure that was overlooked for too long under Labor, ensuring volunteers have the facilities they need to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies.”

Member for Scenic Rim Jon Krause said the new station would provide lasting benefits for both local volunteers and the wider community.

“Biddaddaba volunteers have worked hard for a long time to see their new station delivered, and this new station gives them a modern base from which to carry out the important work of protecting local families and properties,” Mr Krause said.

“This is a great outcome for the local community and an investment that will support volunteer firefighters and strengthen emergency response capability across the Scenic Rim for years to come.”

Rural Fire Service Queensland Acting Deputy Chief Officer Joel Gordon said the new station would be of great benefit to the brigade.

“Our rural fire volunteers play an important role all year round, responding to incidents and carrying out mitigation activities to help reduce bushfire risk,” Mr Gordon said.

“This purpose-built facility will support their operational needs and help them continue delivering this vital service to the community.”
