The Crisafulli Government is delivering almost $600,000 to 10 artists and organisations to drive vibrant creative experiences across Queensland communities.
From September, beatboxing, memoir writing, musical theatre and country music will be among the experiences heading across the State through the latest round of the Touring Queensland Fund.
It’s just one of the ways the Crisafulli Government is delivering better services through a stronger economy after a decade of decline under Labor.
Under the former Labor Government, regional arts workers were neglected and rural and remote Queenslanders missed out on enjoying vibrant arts experiences.
The Crisafulli Government’s $391.9 million Arts Budget is strengthening the foundations for a fresh start with more support for the screen industry, festivals and events, and upgrades to Queensland’s key creative venues. Minister for Education and the Arts John-Paul Langbroek said Queenslanders would have more access to enriching arts and cultural experiences.
“The Crisafulli Government is delivering funding to regional arts workers to ensure they can deliver exceptional experiences for Queenslanders,” Minister Langbroek said.
“The funding will be shared between 10 successful applicants, who will tour performing arts, visual arts, hands on workshops and cultural activities to communities across the State.
“Arts tours provide Queensland communities with the opportunity to engage with a range of visiting artists and companies, while providing employment opportunities for Queensland’s creative workforce.
“Our 10-year arts and culture strategy, Queensland’s Time to Shine, prioritises arts for all Queenslanders, ensuring regional communities can access the best arts and cultural experiences in local venues and spaces.”
Member for Scenic Rim, Jon Krause MP, spoke with pride about Scenic Rim recipient Laura Bamford and the recognition of her innovative arts project.
“Ms Bamford has been awarded $68,555, for You Played Where!?, which is a unique touring program that brings live arts experiences to non-traditional venues across Queensland.” He said.
“This project will showcase original country music, visual arts, all-ages line dancing, storytelling, and Auslan-interpreted performances, creating opportunities for communities of all backgrounds to engage with and enjoy the arts.” Mr Krause said.
Laura Bamford will receive additional funding of up to $10,000 to support access costs for artists and audiences with disabilities, including the services of Auslan interpreters and captioning.
