Queensland has just recorded the largest drop in stolen car insurance claims on record.
“We’ve still got a long way to go but Queensland is no longer the car-theft capital of Australia,” said Member for Scenic Rim, Jon Krause.
“Insurance Council of Australia analysis shows motor theft claims across the State fell 12 per cent from 6900 in 2024 to 6100 in 2025 after skyrocketing 101 per cent from 3434 in 2015 to 6919 in 2024.
“We’re now demanding insurers pass on the savings to Queensland families in their premiums.
“We’ve delivered stronger laws and more police, and they are starting to make a difference, but we are not taking our foot off the pedal.
“We will continue to deliver more police, stronger laws and effective early intervention and rehabilitation to turn the tide on the youth crime crisis we inherited from Labor.”
