MOUNT FORBES RURAL FIRE BRIGADE EXTENSION AIDS BUSHFIRE READINESS

The opening of a new $434,769 extension to the Mount Forbes Rural Fire Brigade station has strengthened bushfire readiness throughout the Scenic Rim.

The extension will house an incident control centre capable of accommodating 100 people, as well as a training room, duty office, additional office space and kitchen.

Member for Scenic Rim, Jon Krause, said the Mount Forbes Rural Fire Brigade contributed not only to its own community but supported rural fire operations across Scenic Rim, Ipswich, Logan, Somerset and Lockyer Valley.

“It will now serve as a local hub for coordination during large-scale incidents,” he said.

“In addition to responding to incidents, our rural firefighters commit countless hours to educating the community, undertaking training and hazard mitigation, and performing administrative tasks that support overall response efforts when they arise.

“Our rural fire brigades are a vital part of their communities and the LNP Government is proud to stand with them by ensuring they have the resources they need to keep Queenslanders safe.”
