The moratorium notice over Tamborine Mountain and Springbrook areas preventing the construction of new underground water works for commercial purposes has been extended until March 2026.
This follows an annual review of the moratorium by the Department of Local Government and Water.
In welcoming the news, Member for Scenic Rim, Jon Krause, said community access to underground water, including household supply, small-scale irrigation and town water supply would be unaffected by the moratorium.
Mr Krause said the moratorium would be reviewed again in 2026.
