It was a proud day for Beaudesert Country Women’s Association on 10 February as members celebrated the official reopening of their relocated and beautifully refurbished hall.
Around 50 members and guests clapped and cheered as Dinah Buchanan cut the ribbon at the entrance to the hall which was relocated from next to the Council chambers in Brisbane Street to Selwyn Street as part of Council’s Beaudesert Town Centre Revitalisation Project.
Member for Scenic Rim, Jon Krause, said that for more than a hundred years the CWA had made an amazing and invaluable contribution to rural life in Australia.
“The Beaudesert branch which was formed in the late 1920s is experiencing a resurgence in membership, due in no small part to the transformation of the old hall which includes a new façade, patio, kitchen and toilet facilities, as well as improved parking access.
“Following the official opening ceremony, I was reminded yet again that no one puts on a morning tea quite like the ladies of the CWA.
“Congratulations to everyone who has played a part in making this project such an outstanding success.”
