Flagstone Creek Bridge Replacement Study

Beaudesert Beenleigh Road from Tamborine to Beaudesert is a busy road, with lots of heavy vehicles. Through Birnam especially the road is narrower, and this presents safety issues for motorists. I have been making representations to Main Roads to get on with plans to improve this section, including the Flagstone Creek bridge at Birnam.

It is pleasing to hear that Transport and Main Roads Department (TMR) is currently working on a planning project to replace the Flagstone Creek bridge on Beaudesert-Beenleigh Road. Planning involves a detailed hydraulic analysis of Flagstone Creek to finalise the preferred alignment, including the bridge height and approaches. The planning study is due for completion by the end of 2024.

I will keep on the case to improve the road overall through Birnam so that it is wider and safer like the road is at Mundoolun (on the Tamborine side) and Tabragalba (on the Beaudesert side).

TMR is also undertaking a high-level study to investigate safety improvements from Tamborine to Canungra along the Mundoolun Connection Road/Beaudesert-Nerang Road.
