2024 Premier’s Reading Challenge

The 2024 Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) opened for registrations on 22 April.

Member for Scenic Rim, Jon Krause, said the challenge was open to students from Prep to Year 9 in state and non-state schools, as well as early childhood centres.

The reading period is scheduled from 7 May to 23 August.

To successfully complete the challenge, students are required to engage with a specified number of books based on their grade level:

Prep to Year 2 (20 books or experiences)

Years 3 to 4 (20 books)

Years 5 to 9 (15 books).

Early childhood centres can participate by tallying total book experiences and literary activities during an abridged reading period from 12 to 23 August, coinciding with the Children’s Book Council of Australia Book Week.

“I encourage schools and early childhood centres to take part in this valuable program,” said Mr Krause.
