Krause Acknowledges Referendum Outcome

Member for Scenic Rim, Jon Krause, has acknowledged the emphatic outcome of the Voice Referendum.

“The Australian people have spoken, and I believe it is now time for government at all levels to refocus their efforts on other important issues, such as the endless cost of living and housing crisis that is having such a damaging impact on so many lives,” he said.

“I advocated for a no vote in the referendum because essentially I considered the Voice would create a separate stream of representation for only some Australians.

“I believe we are all Australians – one vote having one value – and while I recognise and have seen the many issues facing some indigenous communities, we must face these challenges as Australians united, not divided.”

Mr Krause congratulated the yes and no supporters in the Scenic Rim Electorate for the courteous and respectful way in which they campaigned during the referendum.

“The things that unite us are greater than the things that divide us and we must never forget that,” he said.
