The Canungra State School community and local MP Jon Krause are celebrating the news of $250,000 worth of funding being allocated to Canungra State School to refurbish the Special Education Room.

“I have been fighting for Canungra State School to receive the funding and infrastructure the school community deserves,” Mr Krause said.

“From safer pedestrian access for parents and students to parking issues, and even the safety of students on buses coming to Canungra State School, as previously seen with the Limerick Drive bus route issue – I’ve been fighting for a fair share for the Canungra school community.”

Mr Krause said that Canungra State School as a community had been through a lot in the last 12 months.

“Canungra State School and the broader community in Canungra have experienced a lot of devastation in the past 12 months with bushfires, water supply issues, and most recently the impacts of COVID-19.

“I recently met with members of the Canungra State School P&C to discuss various local issues, including improvements for school facilities, development, roads, management of local natural disasters, school catchments and a few other matters too.

“This funding of $250,000 to refurbish the Special Education Room at Canungra State School is a step in the right direction and I thank all of those involved in this community for raising your concerns with me so that I can raise them on your behalf to the Queensland Government – fighting for our fair share. I would like to particularly thank Principal Kylie Todhunter for her leadership and hard work in advancing Canungra State School.

“This funding for Canungra State School will enhance the school learning environment and that’s something I’ll always support,” Mr Krause said.
